Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
3/4 cup buttermilk, cold
1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for brushing)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
- Add the cold, cubed butter and cut into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently stir until the dough comes together. Avoid overmixing.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently pat into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or round glass.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
- Place the biscuits in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t touch.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Brush with melted butter if desired and serve warm.
Notes
For best results, ensure the butter and buttermilk are cold to achieve a flaky texture.
Reheat leftover biscuits in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 2-3 minutes to restore their softness.
Biscuits can be frozen for up to 3 months; reheat from frozen as directed.
