Ingredients
For the Bread:
1/2 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup milk
For the Apple Filling:
2 large apples, peeled and chopped
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl:
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Vanilla Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix the chopped apples with the sugar and cinnamon for the apple filling.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spread half of the apple filling over the batter and sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar swirl mixture. Repeat with the remaining batter, apple filling, and cinnamon sugar swirl.
- Lightly swirl the mixture with a knife to create a marbled effect.
- Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread before slicing.
