Description

These soft and chewy Apple Butter Cookies are a perfect fall treat, combining the flavors of cinnamon, brown sugar, and creamy apple butter. With their warm, spiced aroma and delicate texture, these cookies are ideal for cozy autumn gatherings and afternoon snacks. Easy to make and even easier to enjoy, this recipe will bring the comfort of fall right to your kitchen.

Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

½ cup brown sugar, packed

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

½ cup apple butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, apple butter, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  4. Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and set. Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Apple Butter: Use homemade or store-bought apple butter for the best flavor. If using homemade, ensure it’s smooth and not too runny.

Chill the Dough: For thicker cookies, refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes before baking.

Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. Cookies can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
