Ingredients
2–3 pounds hamburger (or ground turkey)
1 head of cabbage, chopped
2 cups celery, diced
2 cups white or yellow onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
2–3 cloves garlic, minced
5–6 cups beef broth
2 (14 oz) cans diced tomatoes with basil, oregano, and garlic
2 teaspoons oregano
2 teaspoons basil
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Black pepper to taste
½ teaspoon salt (optional)
Instructions
- Brown Meat: Cook the hamburger in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
- Combine Ingredients: Add cooked hamburger, cabbage, celery, onion, bell pepper, and garlic to a crock pot.
- Add Liquids and Seasonings: Pour in beef broth and diced tomatoes with juices. Sprinkle in oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and optional salt. Stir well.
- Cook: Set the slow cooker to high for 5-6 hours or low for 6-8 hours. Stir occasionally.
