Description
Warm, golden-fried doughnuts made from canned biscuit dough, topped with a sweet vanilla glaze. Ready in under 20 minutes, these budget-friendly treats are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.
Ingredients
For the doughnuts:
1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
Vegetable oil, for frying
For the glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk (or more for desired consistency)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium heat until the oil reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Open the can of biscuits and separate them. Use a small round cutter (like a bottle cap) to punch holes in the center of each biscuit to form doughnuts. Save the centers for doughnut holes.
- Carefully fry the biscuits in batches, cooking each side for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels. Repeat with doughnut holes, frying for 30-60 seconds per side.
- In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to create the glaze. Adjust the milk for desired consistency.
- Dip warm doughnuts and doughnut holes into the glaze, covering them fully. Let excess glaze drip off on a wire rack.
- Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
Ensure oil stays at 350°F for optimal frying results.
For variations, try cinnamon-sugar coating, chocolate glaze, or sprinkles.
Doughnuts are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 day.
