This classic Chicken Tetrazzini recipe is a creamy and comforting pasta casserole perfect for family dinners. Made with tender chicken, spaghetti, and a rich, cheesy sauce, it’s baked to golden perfection. Ideal for busy weeknights or special occasions.
Ingredients
12 oz spaghetti
3 cups cooked, shredded chicken
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup chopped parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook until tender.
- Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the sour cream, grated Parmesan cheese, ground nutmeg, and season with salt and pepper.
- Add the cooked, shredded chicken and cooked spaghetti to the sauce, and stir until everything is well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the top is golden brown.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
Use rotisserie chicken for a quick and easy option.
For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine to the sauce after cooking the vegetables.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
