3 large egg yolks
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Whipped cream, for topping

Instructions
- Prepare the Custard Base:
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and heat over medium, stirring constantly, until steaming but not boiling.
- Temper the Eggs:
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolks.
- Slowly add 1/2 cup of the hot milk mixture, whisking continuously.
- Gradually return the yolk mixture to the saucepan, whisking constantly.

- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Serve:
- Top with whipped cream and fresh banana slices before serving.
Notes
For a chocolate twist, add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the custard.
Use almond or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
Add toppings like toasted nuts, shredded coconut, or caramelized bananas for extra flair.
