Ingredients

1 bag (12 oz) fresh or frozen cranberries

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water

1/2 tsp orange zest (optional)

1 tbsp fresh orange juice (optional)


Instructions

  1. Combine cranberries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
  4. Stir in orange zest and juice, if desired.
  5. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes
