Ingredients
For the Bars:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For the Frosting:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons heavy cream (or milk)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease lightly. - Make the Dough
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients until dough forms.
- Bake the Bars
- Press dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.
- Prepare the Frosting
- Beat butter until creamy.
- Gradually mix in powdered sugar on low speed. Add heavy cream and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth. Add food coloring if desired.
- Frost and Decorate
Spread frosting evenly over cooled bars. Decorate with sprinkles, if desired. - Slice and Serve
