Ingredients
1 cup heavy cream
8 oz mascarpone cheese
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
24–30 ladyfingers
Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
Dark chocolate shavings (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- In another bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
- In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee with the coffee liqueur, if using.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange them in a single layer at the bottom of a 9×9-inch dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Add another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone layer.
- Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture over the second layer of ladyfingers.
- Cover and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Before serving, dust the top generously with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings, if desired.
Notes
For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur.
Cream cheese can be used as a substitute for mascarpone cheese.
To avoid soggy ladyfingers, dip them quickly in the coffee mixture.
