1 1/2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup sour cream

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

For Serving:

8 ounces egg noodles, cooked according to package instructions


Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef:
    • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add ground beef, cook until browned, and drain excess fat.
  2. Add Aromatics:
    • Sauté onions until translucent (4-5 minutes).
    • Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Sauté Mushrooms:
    • Add mushrooms, cook until softened (5-7 minutes).
  4. Create the Roux:
    • Sprinkle flour over the mixture, stir, and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add Broth and Simmer:
    • Gradually stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
    • Simmer for 5 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  6. Incorporate Sour Cream:
    • Reduce heat to low, stir in sour cream until smooth.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve:
    • Serve stroganoff over egg noodles.
    • Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

For a lighter version, use ground turkey or plant-based meat.

Substitute sour cream with heavy cream or cream cheese for a richer sauce.

To avoid curdling, do not boil after adding sour cream.
