2 tablespoons red food coloring gel

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

3 tablespoons Ghirardelli unsweetened cocoa powder

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

5 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature

⅛ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

23 cups confectioners’ sugar

12 tablespoons heavy cream or milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with foil and grease lightly.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in milk chocolate chips until smooth. Let cool.
  3. In a bowl, whisk eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Add red food coloring and mix well.
  4. Gradually whisk in the cooled chocolate mixture.
