Description

Marmalade Meatballs are a sweet, tangy, and savory dish perfect for any occasion. These juicy meatballs are coated in a rich, citrusy marmalade sauce with a hint of spice. Ideal as an appetizer or a main dish, these marmalade glazed meatballs will impress your guests and satisfy your taste buds. Perfect for family dinners, parties, or meal prep.

Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 ½ pounds ground beef

½ cup breadcrumbs

¼ cup milk

1 large egg

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying, optional)

For the Marmalade Sauce:

1 cup orange marmalade

½ cup barbecue sauce

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides. Alternatively, bake the meatballs on a parchment-lined sheet at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a saucepan, combine orange marmalade, barbecue sauce, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, and red pepper flakes. Heat over medium heat until smooth and bubbly.
  4. Combine Meatballs and Sauce: Add the cooked meatballs to the sauce and toss to coat evenly. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Serve: Serve hot as an appetizer with toothpicks or over rice/noodles as a main dish. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a spicier version, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of cayenne pepper to the sauce.

If you prefer a leaner option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.

These meatballs can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
