Description

Mississippi Chicken is a tender and flavorful slow-cooked dish featuring ranch seasoning, pepperoncini, and butter. Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 packet ranch seasoning mix

1 packet au jus gravy mix

1/2 cup unsalted butter, sliced

68 pepperoncini peppers

1/4 cup pepperoncini juice (from the jar)

Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning and au jus gravy mix evenly over the chicken.
  3. Arrange the butter slices on top of the chicken breasts.
  4. Add the pepperoncini peppers and pour the pepperoncini juice over everything. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
  6. Once cooked, shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks. Mix well to coat the chicken with the juices.
  7. Serve hot on sandwiches, over rice, or with your favorite sides.

Notes

For a spicier version, add extra pepperoncini or a few slices of jalapeños.

You can substitute chicken thighs for chicken breasts for a richer flavor.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
