Description

Old-Fashioned Easy Apple Crisp: A classic dessert featuring tender baked apples topped with a crispy, buttery oat topping. This simple apple crisp recipe is perfect for fall or whenever you’re craving a warm, comforting treat. Ideal served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Easy to make and full of classic flavors!

Ingredients

For the Apple Filling:

6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

1 tablespoon lemon juice

½ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the Crisp Topping:

1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

¾ cup all-purpose flour

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and stir until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly and tender.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

For the best flavor, use a mix of sweet and tart apples such as Granny Smith and Honeycrisp.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Reheat in the oven to maintain the crispy topping.
