Description
Crispy and flavorful old-fashioned salmon patties are a comforting, quick, and easy meal made with pantry staples. Perfect as a main dish, appetizer, or sandwich filling.
Ingredients
1 (14.75 oz) can salmon, drained and flaked
1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil or butter for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix salmon, breadcrumbs, onion, bell pepper (if using), egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Shape into 6-8 patties.
- Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry patties for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and heated through.
- Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve warm with tartar sauce, lemon wedges, or dipping sauce.
Notes
To help the patties stick together, add an extra egg or breadcrumbs if needed.
Variations include adding fresh herbs, cheese, or spices for additional flavor.
Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
