Description

These soft and buttery homemade rolls are the perfect addition to any meal. Fluffy, tender, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, they’re ideal for serving alongside soups, stews, roasted meats, or at your holiday table. With a simple recipe and ingredients, you’ll enjoy these homemade dinner rolls all year round.

Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)

2 teaspoons yeast

3 tablespoons sugar

1 1/4 cups warm milk

1/4 cup olive oil or avocado oil

2 eggs

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 egg white + 2 tablespoons water (for egg wash)

2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing after baking)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the yeast and sugar. Add the warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add the oil, salt, and eggs to the mixture, stirring to combine.
  3. Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, kneading for 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Once the dough has risen, divide it into 24 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
  6. Arrange the dough balls in a greased baking pan, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Brush the rolls with the egg wash (egg white mixed with water) for a golden brown finish.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown on top.
  10. Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter for a rich, glossy finish.
  11. Serve warm with your favorite soup, coffee, or tea.

Notes

For fluffier rolls, knead the dough longer and ensure it rises well.

The dough can be made in advance and refrigerated overnight after the first rise.

If using active dry yeast, activate it in warm milk with sugar for 5 minutes before proceeding.
