Ingredients
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
3 tablespoons heavy cream
Additional sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using).
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients, mixing just until incorporated.
- Add the heavy cream and mix until dough comes together.
- Scoop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough, roll into balls, and roll in additional sugar.
- Place on the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass or your fingers.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Let cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Chilling the Dough: For easier handling and to prevent spreading, chill the dough for 15-30 minutes before baking.
