Description
Juicy boneless chicken thighs caramelized in a sticky, sweet, and spicy homemade sauce made with honey, soy sauce, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Quick to prepare and perfect for a flavorful weeknight meal.
Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger, minced
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Whisk together soy sauce, honey, ketchup, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a bowl until fully combined.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add chicken thighs and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and bring to a simmer.
- Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until chicken is cooked through and sauce thickens into a sticky glaze.
- Serve chicken with extra sauce spooned over the top, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
Adjust spice level by adding more red pepper flakes or sriracha.
Substitute ketchup with tomato paste for a richer flavor.
Add a splash of rice vinegar for brightness.
Toss in sliced bell peppers or snap peas near the end for crunch.
For gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days.
Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat to keep sauce sticky; avoid microwaving if possible.
