Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 chai tea bag (contents only)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
For the Cinnamon Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1–2 tablespoons milk or cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, chai tea leaves, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly with your palm.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are golden. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, cinnamon, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies.
