Description

Tzatziki sauce is a creamy, refreshing Greek sauce made with Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and fresh herbs. It’s perfect as a dip, dressing, or topping for grilled meats and vegetables. Easy to make and versatile, this homemade tzatziki sauce will elevate any meal.

Ingredients

1 cup Greek yogurt

1/2 cucumber, grated

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber and squeeze out the excess moisture using a clean towel or cheesecloth.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, fresh dill, lemon juice, and olive oil.
  3. Stir everything together until smooth and well combined.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Chill the tzatziki in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Notes

For added spice, try incorporating a pinch of cayenne pepper or fresh chili slices.

To make the sauce even more refreshing, replace the dill with fresh mint for a minty variation.

For a vegan version, swap Greek yogurt for dairy-free alternatives such as coconut or almond-based yogurt.

If you’re not a fan of cucumber, consider substituting it with finely chopped avocado for a smooth, creamy texture.
