Description

Alabama White Sauce is a tangy, creamy, and flavorful barbecue sauce with a mayonnaise base. It’s perfect for grilled chicken, turkey, and other meats, providing a cooling contrast to smoky flavors.

Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until smooth and well combined.
  3. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning, adding more salt, pepper, or cayenne if desired.
  4. Once the sauce is ready, transfer it to a jar or airtight container.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together before serving.

Notes

This sauce pairs wonderfully with grilled chicken, turkey, pork, beef, or as a dip for fries and vegetables.

For a spicy version, add more cayenne pepper or hot sauce.

For a vegan version, substitute the mayonnaise with a plant-based alternative.

The sauce can be stored in the fridge for up to 1 week.
