Description

These Apple Crisp Bars are a delicious blend of a buttery crust, tender cinnamon-spiced apples, and a crunchy oat topping. Perfect for fall, this easy-to-make recipe combines the flavors of apple pie with the convenience of bars. Enjoy them as a dessert or snack, and pair them with vanilla ice cream or caramel drizzle for an extra treat.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 medium apples, peeled and diced

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats

1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in the softened butter until crumbly. Press mixture into the pan to form the crust. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
  3. In a skillet, cook apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until softened and thickened. Remove from heat.
  4. In another bowl, mix oats, brown sugar, and melted butter until crumbly.
  5. Spread the apple mixture over the baked crust, and sprinkle the oat topping on top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the topping is golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

For the best results, use tart apples like Granny Smith.

You can freeze the bars for up to 3 months. Thaw before serving.

Serve with vanilla ice cream or caramel drizzle for an extra indulgence.
