Description
Looking for a show-stopping holiday appetizer? This Baked Cranberry Brie Bread Bowl is perfect! Creamy Brie cheese, tart cranberries, and crunchy nuts are baked in a toasted bread bowl, making it a delicious and impressive dish to serve at any gathering.
Ingredients
1 round bread boule (sourdough or any round loaf)
1 wheel of Brie cheese
1 cup fresh or dried cranberries
1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, roughly chopped
1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Fresh rosemary or thyme for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Bread Bowl: Cut the top off the bread boule and hollow out the center, leaving about a 1-inch thick shell. Save the bread you remove for dipping later.
- Prepare the Brie: Cut the top rind off the Brie cheese wheel and place the Brie into the hollowed-out bread bowl.
- Add Toppings: In a small bowl, mix the cranberries, chopped nuts, honey or maple syrup, and ground cinnamon. Spoon the cranberry mixture over the Brie.
- Bake: Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the Brie is melted and bubbly, and the bread is toasted.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh rosemary or thyme if desired. Serve immediately with the reserved bread pieces, crackers, or sliced apples for dipping.
Notes
For a less sweet option, use fresh cranberries instead of dried.
Feel free to substitute pecans or walnuts with almonds or pistachios.
Maple syrup can be used instead of honey for a different flavor profile.
