Enjoy moist Banana Bread Bars topped with creamy, decadent cream cheese frosting in this easy-to-make dessert recipe that’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
For the Bars:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2–3 bananas)
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs, vanilla extract, and mashed bananas, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Spread batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean with a few moist crumbs. Remove from oven and let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until smooth and well combined.
- Once bars are completely cooled, spread cream cheese frosting evenly over the top. For easier slicing, refrigerate bars for about 30 minutes to allow frosting to set. Cut into bars and serve.
Notes
Ensure bananas are ripe for the best flavor.
Adjust frosting sweetness by adding more or less powdered sugar to taste.
