Description

Indulge in the deliciousness of Banana Bread Donuts—a moist and sweet twist on the classic banana bread recipe! Perfect for breakfast or a snack, these easy-to-make donuts are packed with the rich flavor of ripe bananas. Ready in just 22 minutes, you can enjoy these delightful treats warm from the oven, topped with a sweet cinnamon sugar coating.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup mashed ripe banana (about 1 large banana)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup melted butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)

1/4 cup milk (or almond milk for dairy-free)

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon salt

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping (Optional):

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan or lightly spray with non-stick spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mashed banana, brown sugar, melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each mold about 3/4 full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  7. For the topping, mix the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Brush the donuts lightly with melted butter, then dip each donut in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use coconut oil and almond milk.

To keep the donuts tender, avoid overmixing the batter.

Ripe bananas with brown spots yield the best flavor.
