Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
1 cup brown rice
2 cups water
1 cup carrots, finely chopped
1 cup green beans, chopped
1/2 cup peas
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric (optional)
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the brown rice and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 35–40 minutes until rice is tender and fully cooked.
- While the rice cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add ground beef and cook thoroughly, breaking it apart until browned and no pink remains. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in chopped carrots and green beans and cook for 5–7 minutes until slightly softened.
- Add peas and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes.
- Mix the cooked rice into the beef and vegetable mixture until well combined.
- Stir in turmeric and parsley if using.
- Allow the food to cool completely before serving.
Notes
Consult your veterinarian before feeding as a long-term daily diet.
Ground turkey can be substituted for a leaner protein option.
White rice may be used for easier digestion.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Freeze individual portions for up to 3 months.
Reheat gently and ensure food is only slightly warm before serving.
