Description

This Best Banana Bread recipe features a moist, tender loaf packed with rich banana flavor. Perfect for using overripe bananas, this easy-to-make bread is a classic favorite that’s sweetened just right and ideal for breakfast, snacks, or a comforting dessert. Enjoy it fresh out of the oven or toasted with a pat of butter for a delicious treat any time of day.

Ingredients

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/4 cup sour cream

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

1/2 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: Cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
  3. Add Bananas and Sour Cream: Stir in mashed bananas and sour cream until well combined.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon (if using). Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if desired.
  5. Bake: Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, tent with aluminum foil.
  6. Cool and Serve: Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve.

Notes

Frozen Bananas: You can use thawed frozen bananas for extra sweetness. Drain excess liquid before mashing.

Egg Substitutes: Use 1/4 cup applesauce or mashed banana for each egg if you need an egg-free version.

Less Sweet Option: Reduce granulated sugar by 1/4 to 1/2 cup for a less sweet bread.
