Description

Discover the best ever cranberry sauce recipe—a tangy-sweet holiday staple featuring fresh cranberries, orange juice, and a hint of cinnamon. Perfect for turkey, ham, and even desserts, this versatile sauce is quick to prepare and tastes better than store-bought.

Ingredients

12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed preferred)

1/2 cup water

1 teaspoon orange zest

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, and water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
  4. Stir in orange zest and cinnamon (if using). Remove from heat.
  5. Allow the sauce to cool to room temperature before transferring it to a serving dish or airtight container.
  6. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

For a spiced version, add nutmeg or cloves.

Reduce sugar for a more tart sauce.

Use frozen cranberries without thawing.

Add water or orange juice if the sauce becomes too thick.
