Description

These Blue Cheese Stuffed Pears combine sweet, tender baked pears with creamy blue cheese, crunchy nuts, and a drizzle of honey for an elegant yet simple appetizer. The balance of savory, sweet, and nutty flavors makes them perfect for entertaining or special occasions.

Ingredients

3 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored

1/2 cup blue cheese, crumbled

1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the pears in half lengthwise and carefully scoop out the cores to create a small cavity for the filling.
  3. Lightly brush the cut sides with olive oil and place the pears cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. In a small bowl, gently combine the crumbled blue cheese and chopped nuts. Spoon the mixture evenly into the center of each pear half.
  5. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until the pears are tender and the cheese is slightly melted.
  6. Remove from the oven and drizzle honey over the warm pears. Finish with fresh thyme, a pinch of sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper before serving.

Notes

Swap walnuts for pecans for a sweeter, buttery flavor.

Use a milder blue cheese if you prefer less sharpness.

Top with pomegranate seeds after baking for added texture and color.

Replace honey with maple syrup for a deeper sweetness.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes until warmed through; avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.

Brush cut pears lightly with lemon juice if preparing ahead to prevent browning.
