These Blue Cheese Stuffed Pears combine sweet, tender baked pears with creamy blue cheese, crunchy nuts, and a drizzle of honey for an elegant yet simple appetizer. The balance of savory, sweet, and nutty flavors makes them perfect for entertaining or special occasions.
Ingredients
3 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored
1/2 cup blue cheese, crumbled
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the pears in half lengthwise and carefully scoop out the cores to create a small cavity for the filling.
- Lightly brush the cut sides with olive oil and place the pears cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, gently combine the crumbled blue cheese and chopped nuts. Spoon the mixture evenly into the center of each pear half.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until the pears are tender and the cheese is slightly melted.
- Remove from the oven and drizzle honey over the warm pears. Finish with fresh thyme, a pinch of sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper before serving.
Notes
Swap walnuts for pecans for a sweeter, buttery flavor.
Use a milder blue cheese if you prefer less sharpness.
Top with pomegranate seeds after baking for added texture and color.
Replace honey with maple syrup for a deeper sweetness.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes until warmed through; avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
Brush cut pears lightly with lemon juice if preparing ahead to prevent browning.
