Ingredients
For the Dough:
2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk, warmed
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
For the Filling:
6 large eggs, scrambled
8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Topping:
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, mix the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Prepare the Dough: Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Add warm milk, melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Stir until dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Prepare the Filling: Scramble the eggs and cook the bacon. Mix with shredded cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble the Rolls: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Punch down the dough and roll out into a large rectangle. Spread the filling over the dough. Roll up tightly and slice into 12 pieces. Place in the baking dish.
- Bake the Rolls: Brush with melted butter mixed with garlic powder. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
For a different cheese flavor, substitute cheddar with Swiss or Monterey Jack.
