Description

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring continuously until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in mini chocolate chips, if using.
  8. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly soft. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a fudgier texture, do not overmix the dough and ensure the centers remain soft when baking.

If desired, add a pinch of sea salt on top of each cookie before baking for a gourmet touch.
