Description

Soft, fluffy rolls filled with melted mozzarella and topped with garlic-parsley butter and Parmesan. These Buttery Cheese Garlic Rolls are rich, savory, and perfect alongside pasta, soups, or on their own.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon sugar

2 teaspoons instant yeast

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup warm milk

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for dough)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for topping)

3 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk and 2 tablespoons of melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6 to 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8 to 10 pieces. Flatten each piece and stuff with shredded mozzarella, pinch to seal, and shape into balls.
  7. Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise again for 20 to 30 minutes.
  8. In a small bowl, mix the remaining melted butter with minced garlic, parsley, and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the rolls.
  10. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbling.
  11. Serve warm, optionally brushing with extra garlic butter.

Notes

Add herbs like thyme or rosemary to the dough for extra flavor.

Use cheddar or a cheese blend for a variation in flavor.

For a sweeter version, skip the garlic butter and use honey butter.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temp for 2 days or in the fridge for 5 days.

To reheat, wrap in foil and warm in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for 10 minutes or microwave for 15–20 seconds.

You can freeze baked rolls and reheat directly from frozen at 325°F (160°C) for 15 minutes.
