Ingredients

For the deviled eggs:

12 large eggs

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon white vinegar

1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

For the Cajun shrimp:

1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Pinch of salt

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

For garnish (optional):

Hot sauce

Additional parsley or chives

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Eggs:
    • Boil a pot of water. Gently lower eggs into the water and cook for 10-12 minutes. Once done, transfer to an ice bath or run under cold water to cool.
    • Peel the eggs, slice them in half lengthwise, and remove the yolks. Set aside the whites.
  2. Make the Deviled Egg Filling:
    • Mash egg yolks in a bowl, then add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, white vinegar, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  3. Prepare the Cajun Shrimp:
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Toss shrimp with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt. Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and cooked through.
    • Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp, then remove from heat and let cool.
  4. Assemble the Deviled Eggs:
    • Spoon or pipe the filling into the egg whites. Slice shrimp and place one piece on top of each egg. Garnish with fresh parsley and hot sauce, if desired.
  5. Serve:
    • Arrange on a platter and serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Spicy Twist: Add extra hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the filling for more heat.

Vegetarian Version: Swap shrimp for roasted veggies seasoned with Cajun spices.

Herb Garnish: Try using fresh dill or chives instead of parsley for a different flavor profile.

Smoky Flavor: Replace smoked paprika with chipotle chili powder for extra smokiness.
