Ingredients

Apple Cake:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

Cheesecake Layer:

16 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 egg

Caramel Sauce:

1 cup granulated sugar

6 tbsp butter

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prepare Pans:
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Make the Apple Cake:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
    • In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with sour cream and milk. Stir in chopped apples.
    • Divide batter evenly between cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  3. Make the Cheesecake Layer:
    • Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
    • Add egg and mix until combined.
    • Spread cheesecake mixture over one cooled apple cake layer. Place second layer on top and press gently.
  4. Make the Caramel Sauce:
    • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt sugar, stirring constantly until golden brown.
    • Add butter, then carefully stir in heavy cream, vanilla, and salt.
    • Simmer for 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
