Ingredients
12 ounces penne pasta
3 cups cooked chicken, diced
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Salt and pepper, to taste
Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 3-quart baking dish.
- Cook Pasta: Cook penne pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare Alfredo Sauce:
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
- Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk and heavy cream, stirring until smooth. Simmer until thickened.
- Add Parmesan cheese and ½ cup mozzarella, stirring until creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
- Combine Ingredients: Mix cooked pasta, diced chicken, and Alfredo sauce in a large bowl until well-coated.
- Assemble Casserole: Transfer pasta mixture to the prepared baking dish. Top with remaining 1½ cups of mozzarella cheese.
- Bake: Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for 2-3 minutes for a golden topping.
