1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil


Instructions

  1. Whisk together ketchup, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and soy sauce in a small bowl.
  2. Dissolve cornstarch in water to create a slurry.
  3. Heat oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic, ginger, and optional red pepper flakes, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the ketchup mixture and simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir the cornstarch slurry, then add it to the saucepan. Cook and stir until thickened (1-2 minutes).
