Ingredients
2–3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan. Line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Mash and Mix: Mash the bananas in a large mixing bowl. Add melted butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Make the Batter: Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture. Stir until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan, sprinkle with additional chocolate chips, and bake for 50–60 minutes. Check doneness with a toothpick.
- Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Banana Ripeness: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful the bread will be.
Chocolate Variations: Substitute dark or white chocolate chips for a unique twist.
