Description

Moist and warmly spiced, this chocolate chip pumpkin bread is packed with rich pumpkin flavor and melty chocolate chips—perfect for fall mornings or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

1¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon ground cloves

¼ teaspoon ground ginger

¾ teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

¾ cup granulated sugar

½ cup packed light brown sugar

1 (15 oz) can pure pumpkin puree

½ cup vegetable oil

¼ cup milk (any kind)

1½ teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping if desired)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well blended.
  4. Mix in the pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  5. Gently stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
  8. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use almond or oat milk and dairy-free chocolate chips.

To lighten the bread, substitute applesauce for oil.

Add chopped walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.

Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.

Reheat individual slices in the microwave for 10–15 seconds for a warm treat.
