Description

Churro Cracker Candy is a deliciously sweet and salty treat, inspired by churros, featuring crunchy saltine crackers coated in a rich caramel sauce, topped with creamy white chocolate, and dusted with cinnamon sugar. Perfect for parties, holiday gifting, or a quick indulgence, this easy-to-make candy comes together in just 20 minutes, making it the ideal dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 sleeve saltine crackers (about 40 crackers)

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (plus 1 teaspoon for dusting)

1 ½ cups white chocolate chips

¼ cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer to cover the entire sheet.
  2. Make Caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar. Stir constantly until smooth and bubbling. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  3. Assemble: Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the crackers, using a spatula to coat them fully.
  4. Bake: Bake for 5-7 minutes, until the caramel is bubbling and slightly darkened.
  5. Add Chocolate: Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle white chocolate chips over the hot caramel. Let sit for 1-2 minutes to melt, then spread evenly with a spatula.
  6. Dust with Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and the remaining teaspoon of cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the melted chocolate.
  7. Cool and Serve: Let the candy cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate to speed up the process. Once set, break into pieces and serve.

Notes

Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months.

Customization: Add nuts, drizzle dark chocolate, or sprinkle with sea salt to enhance the flavor.

Serving Tip: Serve chilled or at room temperature for the best texture.
