Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

1/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups apples, peeled and chopped

1/4 cup cinnamon sugar (2 tablespoons sugar + 2 teaspoons cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate Wet Ingredients: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. Combine and Fold: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples.
  6. Layer and Bake: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar over it. Add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the cinnamon sugar.
  7. Bake and Cool: Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Apple Variety: Use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith for the best texture and flavor.

Add-Ins: Consider adding nuts or raisins for extra texture.
