Description

This cinnamon sugar donut sweet bread recipe combines the soft, fluffy texture of bread with the irresistible flavor of a cinnamon sugar donut. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet snack with coffee or tea, this easy recipe is a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

For the Bread:

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 tsp active dry yeast

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 cup warm whole milk

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.

Shape the Bread:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Punch down the dough and roll into a rectangle (about 1/2 inch thick).
  3. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture. Roll tightly, jelly-roll style, and pinch to seal.
  4. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 9×5-inch pan.

Second Rise and Bake:

  1. Cover the loaf pan with a towel and let rise for 30 minutes.
  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

Coat with Cinnamon Sugar:

  1. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl for coating.
  2. After baking, let bread cool for 5 minutes. Brush top with melted butter and coat generously with the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Serve:
Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For a glaze option, skip the cinnamon sugar topping and drizzle with powdered sugar glaze instead.

Add nuts or dried fruits for variations.

Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or up to a week refrigerated.
