For the Glaze (optional):
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk or cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with sour cream. Mix until just combined.
- Prepare the streusel: mix brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon, then stir in melted butter and nuts (if using) until crumbly.
- Spread half the cake batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with half the streusel. Repeat with remaining batter and streusel.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
