Description

Classic Pico de Gallo is a fresh and zesty Mexican salsa made with diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and lime juice. Perfect as a dip, taco topping, or flavor booster for any dish, this recipe delivers authentic Mexican flavors in just 10 minutes.


Ingredients

4 medium ripe tomatoes, diced

1 small white onion, finely chopped

1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (optional)

1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

1 clove garlic, minced (optional)

2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste


Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped onion, jalapeño (if using), and cilantro.
  2. Add the minced garlic (if using), fresh lime juice, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning with more lime juice or salt as desired.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Serve chilled or at room temperature as a dip with tortilla chips or a topping for tacos, burritos, grilled meats, or salads.

Notes

For less watery salsa, scoop out the tomato seeds before dicing.

Adjust the spice level by varying the type or amount of peppers used.
