Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
8 slices Texas toast or thick-cut white bread
1 large onion, thinly sliced
4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
4 tbsp butter, softened
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
For the Special Sauce:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp hot sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
Instructions
- Prepare the onions by caramelizing them in butter over medium heat. Set aside.
- Make the special sauce by whisking together all the ingredients until well blended. Set aside.
- Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then shape into patties. Cook in a skillet until browned and fully cooked. Set aside.
- Butter one side of each slice of Texas toast and place buttered side down in a skillet over medium heat.
