Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

8 slices Texas toast or thick-cut white bread

1 large onion, thinly sliced

4 slices Monterey Jack cheese

4 tbsp butter, softened

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

For the Special Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup ketchup

2 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp hot sauce

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp smoked paprika


Instructions

  1. Prepare the onions by caramelizing them in butter over medium heat. Set aside.
  2. Make the special sauce by whisking together all the ingredients until well blended. Set aside.
  3. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then shape into patties. Cook in a skillet until browned and fully cooked. Set aside.
