Description

Cowboy Butter Sauce is a rich and flavorful dipping sauce that combines butter, garlic, lemon juice, and a blend of fresh herbs and spices. Perfect for steak, chicken, seafood, or vegetables, this versatile sauce adds a burst of savory goodness to any dish. Ideal for cookouts and family dinners, it’s a must-have for elevating your meals with its delicious, buttery flavor.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh chives

1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme

1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary

Instructions

  1. Melt the Butter: In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
  2. Add Garlic and Spices: Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and cook for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Mix in Mustard and Lemon Juice: Stir in the Dijon mustard and lemon juice, mixing until well combined.
  4. Add Herbs and Seasoning: Add the chopped parsley, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), ground black pepper, salt, crushed red pepper flakes, chives, thyme, and rosemary. Stir to combine.
  5. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  6. Serve: Serve the Cowboy Butter Sauce warm as a dipping sauce or drizzle over your favorite dishes.

Notes

For a milder sauce, omit the cayenne pepper and crushed red pepper flakes.

Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.

Reheat gently on the stove to maintain the sauce’s smooth texture.
