Description

These crispy smashed sweet potatoes are a delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors, with tender, creamy centers and crispy, golden edges. Paired with a zesty garlic yogurt dipping sauce, this dish makes a perfect side or snack. It’s simple, satisfying, and packed with flavor in every bite.


Ingredients

4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into thick rounds

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon honey

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

For the Garlic Yogurt Dipping Sauce:

1/2 cup plain yogurt

1 teaspoon garlic powder (or 1 clove fresh garlic, minced)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Salt to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Arrange the sweet potato slices on the baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

  3. Roast the sweet potatoes for 25 minutes, or until tender.

  4. Once tender, gently smash each sweet potato slice with a fork or the bottom of a glass.

  5. Drizzle honey over each smashed sweet potato slice, then return to the oven for another 15-20 minutes until crispy and golden.

  6. While the sweet potatoes bake, make the garlic yogurt dipping sauce by mixing yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, and salt in a small bowl.

  7. Once done, remove sweet potatoes from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley (optional), and serve with garlic yogurt dipping sauce.

Notes

Add spices like paprika or chili powder for extra flavor.

For a dairy-free option, swap yogurt for coconut yogurt or cashew cream.

You can top the smashed sweet potatoes with crumbled feta or shredded cheddar for a cheesy twist.
