Description

Enjoy the warmth of homemade Crockpot Apple Cider made effortlessly in your slow cooker. With seasonal spices like cinnamon, cloves, and fresh apples, this easy recipe delivers a comforting, aromatic drink perfect for chilly days or cozy gatherings. Ideal for the fall season, this spiced cider is a healthier alternative to store-bought versions and fills your home with delightful aromas. Serve it warm or chilled, and customize the sweetness to your preference.

Ingredients

10 medium apples (a mix of sweet and tart), quartered

1 orange, sliced

4 cinnamon sticks

1 tablespoon whole cloves

1 tablespoon whole allspice berries (optional)

1/2 cup brown sugar, or to taste

8 cups water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Add the quartered apples, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice berries (if using), and water into a large crockpot.
  2. Cook: Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours until the apples are very soft.
  3. Mash: Once the apples and oranges are soft, mash them using a potato masher to release additional flavor.
  4. Strain: Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible.
  5. Sweeten: Stir in the brown sugar, adjusting the sweetness to your taste. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Apple Variety: For the best flavor, use a mix of sweet apples like Gala or Fuji, and tart apples like Granny Smith.

Adjusting Sweetness: Start with 1/2 cup of brown sugar and taste-test. You can add more or less depending on your preference.

Spices: Customize the spice blend by adding extra ingredients like nutmeg, ginger, or star anise for more complexity.

Storage: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5-7 days. It can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
