Description

Soft, thick sugar cookies inspired by Crumbl, topped with fluffy vanilla frosting. These homemade cookies are buttery, sweet, and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)

2 cups powdered sugar

23 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Food coloring (optional)

Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using).
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  6. Scoop out about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie, flatten slightly with your palm, and place on the prepared baking sheet 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, just until the edges are set. Centers should remain soft.
  8. Cool completely before frosting.
  9. To make the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  10. Gradually mix in powdered sugar.
  11. Add vanilla and 2 tablespoons of cream or milk; beat until fluffy. Add more cream if needed to reach desired consistency.
  12. Tint the frosting with food coloring if desired.
  13. Frost each cooled cookie and decorate with sprinkles if using.
  14. Chill cookies in the fridge for a firmer frosting, or enjoy immediately.

Notes

Use a cookie scoop for evenly shaped cookies.

Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 1 day.

Cookies can be frozen frosted or unfrosted for up to 2 months.

For best results, use gel food coloring in frosting.

Optional almond extract gives a signature bakery-style flavor.
