Description
Crispy, golden wonton bites filled with rich cheesecake and juicy strawberries, deep-fried to perfection and ideal for parties or a sweet indulgence anytime.
Ingredients
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup finely chopped strawberries
24 wonton wrappers
1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
Vegetable oil, for frying
Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Optional: chocolate sauce for drizzling
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold in the finely chopped strawberries until evenly distributed.
- Place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
- Brush the edges of each wrapper with the beaten egg, then fold into triangles or pinch corners together to form pouches. Seal tightly to prevent leaks.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the wontons in small batches for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate sauce, if desired.
Notes
Do not overfill the wrappers to avoid bursting during frying.
Use fresh strawberries for best texture, but thawed and drained frozen berries can be used.
Can be baked at 375°F for 10–12 minutes if preferred over frying.
Great to freeze before frying; cook straight from frozen with slightly longer frying time.
Try variations with different fruits, flavored cream cheese, or mini chocolate chips.
